Cotopaxi Review

Cotopaxi Review

A good friend of mine introduced me to the world of Cotopaxi and I'm so glad she did!  I don't know about you, but I really enjoy purchasing items from companies that give back to the world.  Cotopaxi is one of those companies, and they give back in various ways.

From their website "Who We Are" section:

We create innovative outdoor products and experiences that fund sustainable poverty alleviation, move people to do good, and inspire adventure.

Cotopaxi funds solutions that address the most persistent needs of those living in extreme poverty. Giving is core to our model. As a Delaware Public Benefit Corporation, Cotopaxi has made a commitment to creating positive social impact. We focus our efforts on global poverty alleviation & give targeted grants to advance health, education, and livelihoods initiatives around the world.

That is most definitely a mission statement I can jump on board with!  Cotopaxi also provides their impact reports on their website if anyone wants to check those out.

Now onto the product!

My favorite Cotopaxi item that I own is my Luxon Del Dia 18L daypack.   Here is the description taken from the website:  "The durable, packable, versatile, Luzon has a new twist.  Packed with personality and history, each Luzon Del Dia is made proudly in the Philippines by an employee who has total creative control over the pack's color way.  No two are the same."

How fun is that!!!  I'll admit, I was hesitant at first because I'm pretty partial to a specific color scheme.  I pretty much never stray from turquoise (my fav color), pink, yellow, light blue, pretty much any bright color.  I'm also a bit of a control freak so relinquishing control of what my bag would look like took a bit of time for me to adjust to.  The thought that won me over was that my bag would be super unique and it was exciting to open the package and see what colors they used!  I also knew if I really hated it, I could return it, so that helped.

Here's my awesome bag in action with me out in the wilderness of the Black Hills!

For anyone that doesn't want to take the risk of not knowing what your bag would look like, they also have a regular Luzon which comes in a variety of colors.  They even make a smaller version for kiddos!

Aside from all the already mentioned greatness, this pack is my go-to pack for day hikes.  It fits tons of stuff and is super comfy to wear hiking ALL day!  When I go hiking, I typically have my husband and 2 young kids with me.  My husband doesn't wear a pack because he's usually packing our youngest on his back.  So that leaves me with the only pack for 4 people and everything we need fits in my Luzon Del Dia, including diapers/wipes and changes of clothes for the kids.

Like I said, the Luzon is my favorite item but definitely not the only awesome piece of gear from Cotopaxi!  Check out their website, they have super cute and functional outdoor clothes, all kinds of packs and their customer service is superb!  I had a question about sizing of a shirt once and they responded quickly to my email and were so friendly!  The only negative I have is that I bought an XL Do Good shirt and it was pretty dang tight, so that didn't help my self image a whole lot but other than that I've had nothing but good experiences with this company.

So if you're looking for some sweet gear from a company that is giving back, check out Cotopaxi!
